DIY Advent Calendar with glass cups

by Elena Levati

So here we are at our regular mid-November appointment, my favorite one: the post dedicated to the DIY ADVENT CALENDAR! Like every year, the basic idea is to do it by reusing, recycling, giving new life or a different use to something we already have at home! Well, for this 2024, I decided that the real stars would be 24 GLASS CUPS!

DIY ADVENT CALENDAR WITH GLASS CUPS: VERY EASY, VERY FAST AND SO BEAUTIFUL

I don’t know about you, but I always have a lot of glasses at home: among the mismatched ones, survived by my little girls’ hands, among those that are now ruined but that, however, are not yet to be thrown away (maybe yes, but for me recycling always comes before throwing away), among those that I had put on the wedding list and that I used 3 times in 14 years…

In few words, thinking about what I already had at home, TO RECYCLE, in quantities that would allow me to make all the advent calendar, opening the kitchen cupboards I came up with the idea of glass cups in no time!

So: here I am after a few hours, ready to make my DIY ADVENT CALENDAR using glass cups FOR FREE (almost)!

As you can see and imagine, preparing this advent calendar is really VERY EASY and VERY FAST: you just need to select the glasses and decorate them turning on the Christmas mode! 🙂 What will come out of it, will be a unique and beautiful art piece!

So now… let’s see what you will need to make your DIY ADVENT CALENDAR with glass cups!

YOU NEED:

  • 24 GLASSES of your choice from those you have at home.
    • You can decide to use glasses from a single set or from different sets, perhaps taking advantage of the opportunity to give new life to those mismatched glasses or those that are now a little dull that you don’t like to put on the table.
    • You can also decide whether to use glasses of the same color and size, or use many different glasses in both type and size as I did: the calendar will be more varied and you can play, from a decorative point of view, with the heights!
  • 24 NUMBERED CARDS essential to be able to follow the passing of the days leading us towards Christmas.
  • RAW WOOL RIBBONS, ROPE, LACES, ETC… Everything that will allow you to attach the aforementioned numbered tag to each glass and, at the same time, decorate it!
  • CHRISTMAS STICKERS, BELLS, GLITTER and GLITTERY TAPE: here you can really give free rein to your imagination! I chose to stay on the typical Christmas tones of red, gold and silver and I chose to use only a few bells, stars and little stars, gold dots and glitter, but snowflakes, reindeer, snowy houses, etc. are also welcome…
  • COARSE SALT to create a snowy base in each glass to place the daily gift!

You can decide to apply a single decorative line or create 24 different decorations for each glass, obviously always according to your taste!

As you can see, I preferred a really simple decoration and, even if I decorated each glass differently, I followed the same setting so as to create uniformity and harmony.

What do you think? Do you like it?

Now I will show you all 24 glasses in detail, so that you can realize how simple and fast the work is, but, at the same time, capable of giving great satisfaction! 🙂

These are the glasses from number 1 to 12:

As always, now all you have to do is think about the gifts!

As you know, I love to pamper my little ladies (and my big man) with lots of treats! At the moment, I’m still in the “brainstoriming phase”, so I remind you MY ADVENT CALENDARS of previous years where you will find lots of sweet and savory ideas to fill every glass!

Obviously go and take a look, if you missed them, not only for the content, but also for the container 🙂

Hugs and kisses,

Elena
